Fathom Alternative for Action Items That Close

Fathom records meetings and publishes a free plan with summaries. Here is what it covers, and when follow-up needs owners and carry-over.

What Fathom is for

Fathom records and summarizes meetings on Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams. It publishes a free plan that includes recordings, transcripts, and summaries, and it describes action items in those summaries. A free notetaker is a reasonable default for an individual who wants the call written down.

MinutesLoop is not a recorder and does not have a free forever transcription tier. The free tools on this site (minutes, summary, action extraction, follow-up email) need no account. The paid product is the tracker after that.

Where follow-up is a different product

A summary delivered after the call is a snapshot. The follow-up email generator can turn decisions and actions into the note you send. The items that are still open next week need a log that was not regenerated from a new recording.

Use Fathom for the recording and the summary. Use the action item tracker template or MinutesLoop for the list you walk into the next meeting already holding.

A practical way to use both

After the meeting, generate minutes or pull action items with the free tools, fix names and dates, and send one follow-up email. Put anything still open on the rolling action log before you close the laptop.

When that log is the thing the next meeting reconstructs from memory, move it into MinutesLoop. Pricing is on the pricing page. The notetaker can stay.

FAQs

Is MinutesLoop an alternative to Fathom?

Only for the follow-up. Fathom is a way to capture the meeting. MinutesLoop tracks confirmed action items with owners and due dates until they close. Many teams use a notetaker and a tracker.

Does Fathom extract action items?

Its public materials describe summaries and, in several cases, action items from the conversation. This page does not claim those features are missing. It distinguishes a captured list from a list that carries into the next meeting.

Does MinutesLoop record calls?

No. You bring minutes or notes, confirm owners and dates, and track what is still open. There is no meeting bot.

What does MinutesLoop cost?

Starter is $9 per account per month, Pro $19, Advanced $39. Collaborator seats are $6 per month. Every plan has a 14-day trial and does not ask for a card to start.
