What Otter is for
Otter.ai publicly positions itself as live meeting transcription. It offers a meeting agent for Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams, and it produces a transcript and summary of the conversation. Otter’s own help material also describes action items gathered from conversations, including the ability to tie an item back to the transcript.
That is useful when the question is “what was said, and which line became a task?” MinutesLoop does not answer that question. It does not record the call.
Where follow-up is a different product
A transcript-linked task still has to be confirmed, dated, and reviewed at the next meeting. Otter is built around the conversation. If your problem is that last week’s open items are not in the room this week, another transcription pass will not fix it.
Keep Otter if you want the live record. Use MinutesLoop on the minutes after the call: one owner, a due date, acknowledgement, and Open Actions that stay visible until done.
A practical way to use both
After the meeting, generate minutes or pull action items with the free tools, fix names and dates, and send one follow-up email. Put anything still open on the rolling action log before you close the laptop.
When that log is the thing the next meeting reconstructs from memory, move it into MinutesLoop. Pricing is on the pricing page. The notetaker can stay.
